Insurance help · plain English

Why drying documentation matters.

Water hides in walls, floors and insulation. A written drying record shows what was wet, what was done and when it was truly dry.

What we record

The drying record, day by day.

Why it matters

Three reasons.

Mold

Surface-dry isn't dry. Readings prove the wall cavity and subfloor dried, which is what keeps mold from growing later.

Your insurance company

The adjuster can see what was wet and why each step was needed. We document everything your adjuster needs and bill your insurance company directly.

Selling the house later

A dated record that the loss was dried and repaired properly answers a buyer's questions.

Straight answers

Drying questions.

How long does drying take?

Most rooms take three to five days, depending on how much water there was and what it soaked into. The readings decide when it's done, not the calendar.

Why are you cutting my drywall?

Sometimes the wall cavity can't dry with the wall closed, or the material soaked up contaminated water. We record what was removed and why.

Do I get a copy of the records?

Yes. Ask, and we'll share the drying record for your job.

Water damage now?

Call. Drying starts the record.

We answer 24/7.
